In India, farmers rely on grain markets and fruit and vegetable markets managed by APMCsto sell their produce, where middlemen act as commission agents and sell the farmers’ produce at prices determined by buyers/ loaders. Government procurement agencies have their own constraints, which prevent them from purchasing grains and pulses from every farmer at government-fixed prices. The traditional practice of selling produce through auctions in APMC controlled fruit and vegetable markets quite often compel farmers to sell their produce at throw away prices and at times they are compelled to discard their fruits or vegetables. This leads to farmers falling deeper into poverty and debt, and in some regions, it drives them to the point of suicide. The prevailing agricultural marketing system has never enabled small and medium farmers to prosper, and there seems to be no prospect of this changing in the future. Understanding the plight of farmers, Mr. D.N. Chauhan, who is himself a farmer, made relentless efforts from year 2017 to 2023 to comprehend the reasons behind the hardships faced by farmers, which led to the conceptualization of the “Krishi Samadhan” web portal and subsequently the establishment of the “Sarvaangeen Krishi Samadhan Foundation” in the year 2023.

Local Support
There will be a dedicated Krishi Mitra in each Panchayat who will support the farmers in resolving any of the operational issues and ordering for their requirements online and timely delivery of the same.
