Causes and Diagnosis of Premature Leaf Fall in Apple Trees
Sarvangin Krishi Samadhan Foundation has launched a special online survey for Apple Season 2025. This survey aims to identify the major causes of premature leaf fall occurring between July and September 2025 in the apple orchards of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. It focuses on understanding the reasons behind early leaf drop, assessing the actual losses faced by farmers, and exploring effective measures to prevent premature leaf fall in the future.
In recent years, changing weather patterns, emerging diseases, pest infestations, imbalanced spray schedules, and nutrient deficiencies have significantly affected apple production. In many regions, leaves dry up and fall prematurely, resulting in reduced fruit size, poor color, lower quality, and a decline in overall productivity. To identify the root causes of this serious problem and to develop strong and practical solutions for the future, this survey is extremely important.
The Foundation aims to analyze the information provided by farmers and prepare a detailed action plan to control the issue of premature leaf fall in the coming years. This survey will not only support scientific research but also help establish a strong communication link between farmers and experts.
All apple growers are kindly requested to participate in this survey. Farmers whose orchards remained healthy and did not experience premature leaf fall are also specially encouraged to share their information, as it will play a vital role in finding effective solutions.
The last date to participate in this online survey is 31 December 2025.
